SlashFilm report that Jai Courtney (Spartacus: Blood And Sand) has been given the nod to star as Bruce Willis's son in the fifth Die Hard film, A Good Day To Die Hard. The producers are hoping Courtney connects with movie audiences and are grooming him to take over the franchise from the aging Willis.
Edgar Wright To Direct Johnny Depp In 'The Night Stalker'
Empire have the news that the enormously talented cult director Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim) has been handpicked by Johnny Depp to direct him in a film called The Night Stalker. The movie is an adaptation of an old TV series and is about a tabloid reporter who has a talent for sniffing out stories involving werewolves, vampires and the like. No writer is attached as yet so the project is still a fair way off hitting cinema screens.

Leonardo Di Caprio led a consortium of "angel donors" to purchase the ruby red slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 classic The Wizard Of Oz. The iconic footwear has been donated to Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and will go on public display in their planned Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
'The Lone Ranger' Cuts Yokam, Enlists Fichtner.
The troubled Lone Ranger production has a new main villain, according to Deadline. Dwight Yokam had orginally been cast as the bad guy, but "scheduling problems" saw him drop out last Friday. Disney have wasted no more time and have now cast William Fichtner (The Dark Knight) in the role.
Academy Bans Sacha Baron Cohen From Attending Oscars.
Deadline have the exculsive that character comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has been disinvited from the Oscars and had his tickets cancelled. He was expected to attend due to his starring role in Martin Scorsese's multi-nominated Hugo. Cohen had been planning on attending the ceremony in the full regalia of his titular character in his upcoming movie The Dictator and has sought permission to do so. Wanting to avoid all shenanigans the Academy haven't just say no, they've given him the bum's rush.
