Brilliant film. I do didn't expect that ending!!!!
elOooo peoplee ii lovee this movie the person i rell love is in thiss were he wers beinn he iss soo hot and soo funny :)
'Alpha Dog' was surely one of the worst movies of the year. Sharon Stone in a fat suit? The only place that would work is in some kind of cheesy 'Basic Instinct' american slapstick spoof. It certainly did not work here. The acting was almost uniformly uninspiring. Justin Timberlake's gilfriend wrinkles her forehead to show that she is crying - they almost needed a subtitle explaining that that was what she was trying to do. This film makes Shortland Street look like the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was not funny, the violence was dull, the sex was prudish, the story limped, the characters did not develop/inspire/disgust/shock/scare. There was no suspense or tension, and consequently the denouement drags. Nuff said.
Loved the movie even the three sum in the pool!
I watched it a couple of weeks ago, and I thought that it was done very well. It is a mix between boys n the hood meets American history X. Even though I thought the movie would be ruined because Justin Timberlake was featuerd in the film, but he did a great performance. Two thumbs up.
Cassavetes throws in everything he can recycle to grab a core-demo viewer -- slutty teens making out, blaring rock music, guns, split screens.
In his best film to date, Nick Cassavetes directs with ferocious energy, taking scenes past their logical stopping points and pushing his actors (particularly Foster, who can be as terrifying as Edward Norton in "American History X") to, but never over, the precipice of absurdity...
In a film with several over-the-top characters bordering on camp, Timberlake's Frankie is the only one who approaches three dimensions, adept at convincingly dishing out some of the movie's disturbing violence as well as registering subtle shifts in Frankie's allegiance...
At its best though, the film offers a pointed critique of a youth culture that views someone like Jesse James Hollywood as a person to emulate...
Don't be fooled by the presence of some pretty-boy actors: Alpha Dog is a gritty, gut-wrenching and disturbing film...
