The enfant terrible of arthouse cinema, Lars von Trier, has turned his attentions to the horror genre with this creepy and provocative psychosexual drama. A grieving couple (Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg) retreats to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse. Very much worse.
Complete waste of mony, beautifully shot and great visuals and to be fair probably well acted, but it makes absolutely no sense, there is a good but boring start then it just turns into , I could not figure out what... there is a start to the story, no middle and no end.. Save your money...
Not for the faint hearted, but I loved the psychological exploration of grief, mystery, intense drama and arty dark and sensuous visuals. I was totally engrossed from beginning to end. My companion and I enjoying picking apart the layers of meaning. Would like to see it again.
