In 1974, a hot-headed 19 year old named Michael Peterson decided he wanted to make a name for himself and so, with a homemade sawn-off shotgun and a head full of dreams he attempted to rob a post office.
Swiftly apprehended and originally sentenced to 7 years in jail, Peterson has subsequently been behind bars for 34 years, 30 of which have been spent in solitary confinement. During that time, Michael Petersen, the boy, faded away and ‘Charles Bronson,’ his superstar alter ego and Britain's most dangerous prisoner, took center stage…
Based on a true story.
Tom Hardy (soon to be seen as Bane in the third BATMAN movie) proves he is the most exciting actor of his generation in an utterly superb portrayal of prisoner, nutter and all-round UK hard-man, the self-named Charles Bronson. From Nicolas Winding Refn (director of DRIVE and the fabulous PUSHER trilogy) this is a must see for movie lovers. A homage to Kubrick (especially A CLOCKWORK ORANGE) and one of the most exciting and dynamic movies of 2008. Violent, funny, thought-provoking and filmed with cinematic flair , BRONSON is simply superb on ever level.
Didn't know what to expect. Gripping film. It's also a true story which makes it even more astounding.
You can just tell by the name of this movie that it is going to be pretty much the greatest film ever. plenty of action that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the finish! peace outx
Most convincing trailer of this year. This character is Britains most well kept secret. Casting looks perfect. Brit film making does it again.
Tom Hardy (TV ONE's Sunday Theatre The Take, Rocknrolla) stars as Charles Bronson, the man dubbed the most notorious UK inmate, in this biographical take on his life and times.
