Based on the Mary O'Hara novel 'My Friend Flicka', 16-year-old Katy (Lohman) dreams of fulfilling her family legacy by working on her father's ranch in modern-day Wyoming. But Katy's father wants more for her, insisting she stop horsing around and go to college. When Katy finds a wild mustang, which she names Flicka, she sets out to make her a riding horse. A special bond between women & horse begins - Flicka, like Katy, has a disdain for authority and is not about to give up her freedom without a fight.
I apologise, we feel bad, but there's no trailer available. ~Ed.
Flicka is a very nice film about wild horses, I like an awful dream about this and something and I would like to visit the city of Wyoming
flicka is the best movie i have seen this year for the movies coming out this year.
One casting wild card is the country singer Tim McGraw, and he's very solid in the role of Katie's horse-rancher dad, the kind of guy whose hard-headedness can't mask the size of his heart...
There are some nice moments and beautiful scenery, but the film is often slow and the dialogue is overwrought...
Entertainingly ridiculous...
It's not really either an animal or a kids' film but rather a young adult drama that rings emotionally true...
So those seeking a softer approach to the realities of both child- and animal-rearing should search elsewhere. The rest of us, meanwhile, are free to enjoy a well-made family drama pitched to young adults that's honest, tough and surprisingly engaging...
