possibly the slowest and most boring movie ever.
Throughout its imposing running time, languid shots of sunny woodlands, falling leaves and blossoming flowers highlight Lawrence's subtle interplay of sex and nature.
The sex is awful. Ferran is addicted to coyly fading to black after about five seconds of full or partially clothed congress, and then fading back in to let us see what appear to be the lineaments of gratified desire as Lady Chatterley and her lover slump, sated.
The film's extremely leisurely pace may frustrate some: the action doesn't even begin to get hot and bothered for about 45 minutes.
In Ferran’s hands, Lawrence’s tale becomes the story of a man and woman cutting through the restrictions of body and mind to learn about each other without all the bullshit. It’s a movie as timely as it is thrilling to watch.
More sensuous than sexy, and more claustrophobic than explosive, this film is often sharply realistic and at other moments plodding and unfocused.
