A inspiring warm fuzzie movie for those that for this sort of thing. Sister and friends soppy husband both cried which tells all!
This film is an absolute gem. Superbly acted, very funny but also very poignant. On leaving the cinema I commented to my daughter that I can't see how anyone wouldn't like this film.
What can I say apart from that it was brilliant and much much better than I expected it to be. Plus Billy Boyd is hilarious. He relaxes the atmosphere with the comic relief and to see him in those pink pants...PHWOAR!
Its impact is such that you may find yourself soaked in some salt water of your own...
Most mainstream movies paddle in the shallows, but this has a heart big enough to swim the Atlantic. An inspiring, uplifting tale that deserves to be British cinema's latest success story...
Thanks in large part to a terrific central performance from Mullan, it packs an emotional punch out of all proportion to its slight premise...
