Johnny Depp was his usual charming self and the only one with any decent lines. The special effects were imaginative and solidly executed. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley had terrible lines and not enough charisma to carry off the roles. I mildly enjoyed it as a great pirate fan, but would only recommend it for a younger viewing crowd or a real blockbuster fan.
The first one was interesting..but this one was just too much... the only good thing about this movie are the visual effects...this movie is only for people that like fantasy movies...
The problem here is too much money and not enough wit. The script's not so much a story as a tin of sardines, cramming every barnacle-crusted cliché from the pirate lexicon into a single box: giant sea monster, voodoo princess, desert island, angry cannibals, black spot, peg leg, buried treasure, ghost ship... it's exhausting when it should be thrilling...
Too long, and too wrapped up in its various plot contrivances to notice it?s veering off course. But Jack just about pulls the wheel back, aided by Verbinski?s flair for cartoonish comedy action..
Depp is the comic gel that holds the whole enterprise together. The performance is a total delight that somehow combines Bugs Bunny, Peter Pan and Charlie Chaplin...
This one is a merry-go-round - or a runaway water wheel - leaving one dazed by spinning too fast for too long without really going anywhere...
Lively is an odd word for something called Dead Man's Chest, but lively it is. You won't find hotter action, wilder thrills or loopier laughs this summer...
