Sex and the City 2 follows the latest exploits of the famous Manhattan foursome: Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.
Carrie and Big have now been married for two years. Life is good for the girls, but the traditional roles of marriage and motherhood lack a certain "sparkle". So, it is decided, the remedy lies in a glamorous, sun-drenched luxury holiday in Abu Dhabi. But as their relationships continue to falter in a foreign land, their holiday may prove more of an adventure outing.
Guest stars Liza Minnelli, Penelope Cruz and Miley Cyrus. Sarah Jessica Parker has described the film as "a light-hearted caper, like a souffle".
Sex and the City 2 feels like a Twilight for grown-up women, but, instead of beautiful vampire boys and a father who turns a blind eye when your boyfriend stays over, we are offered shoes to die for, an endless supply of Armani and an Arab who waits on you hand and foot. Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are living the ultimate fantasy (Jimmy Choo stilettos in the desert?) but it’s one I was happy to buy into.
Interwoven with the New York four’s relationship drama is an opulent, visual delight of fashion and luxury and, now that the ladies are a little older and more mature, some fabulous furnishings and apartments are thrown in to boot. It’s lucky there is an abundance of nice things to look at as it helps one ignore the fact that the storyline has been traded in for over the top product placement.
Sex and the City 2 is a movie for the fans. It has definitely ratcheted up the opulence of lifestyle to almost unbelievable levels; yet so long as you’re happy to suspend your sense of reality and turn a blind eye to the lack of depth in the story, you’ll still find some enjoyment with our favourite fab four.

I know I am a guy and not that many guys are fans of SATC unless they are gay and im not. Anyway It was fun to hang out with Carrie and the girls again. Carrie feels like shes in a rut with Big, Charlotte is finding being a mother tough, Samantha is the same always and Miranda is having a tough time at her job. Samantha finds out from Smith Jared he is working in Abu Dabi and so the girls go on a trip there. So who does Carrie run into her old boyfriend Adien. There are some funny moments but it is also frustrating with the length of the film 2 and a half hours for a comedy is just too long. Having said that I loved the show and it was just great to hang out with those characters again
felt very long (and it is), more like a really long tv show, doesn't work as a movie, and has a tragic 90s feeling to it and the 'shocking' parts are not so shocking for this day & age.
Bunch of old slapper with their clams hanging out
From watching the first 'Sex and the city' movie I was unsure what the sequal would be like. The first movie didn't seem to have the same 'wow' the TV series had. I did still enjoy it however. But as I watched the Sequal I saw the Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha we all know and love. This movie was VERY amusing and I enjoyed it from start to end.
My sister saw this and said "You have to be quite an ill educated person to enjoy this film" You go Sis!... :)
Some of these people make my skin crawl. The characters of Sex and the City 2 are flyweight bubbleheads living in a world which rarely requires three sentences in a row.
This feels bigger and more cinematic than the first film, and sees a progression in the lives of the characters. But many of the jokes are beyond broad, and the Middle Eastern stereotypes are shockingly cack-handed.
So even if Sex and the City 2 consisted of nothing but a two-hour fashion show, it would draw crowds. But it also has the returning cast members in fine comic form, and it has more cutting-edge humor than the first movie.
The ugly smell of unexamined privilege hangs over this film like the smoke from cheap incense.
Style overtakes substance in this disappointing sequel
