A romantic comedy about an average Joe (Jay Baruchel) who meets the perfect woman (Starter for 10's Alice Eve), and is absolutely ecstatic about it. Unfortunately, his lack of confidence and the influence of his friends and family begin to pick away at the relationship. Can he keep the girl of his dreams?
Some half-way decent character comedy props up this otherwise pretty frivolous outing that marks burgeoning star Jay Baruchel’s first cinematic leading role.
Baruchel has appeared in numerous Judd Apatow projects, so it’s no huge surprise that this film is clearly influenced by the Apatow style. This is particularly true in the scenes featuring our protagonist Kirk and his three buddies, which comprise the best moments of the film. They dissect their pal’s good fortune with an Apatow-esque mixture of sweetness and foulness. The fact that none of these four actors are particularly recognisable only helps their easy chemistry.
The chemistry doesn’t flow quite as easily between Baruchel and his leading lady, Brit Alice Eve (Starter for 10). The premise hinges on her genuinely liking Kirk but the film never displays any real rapport between the two, save for a perfunctory date montage. Eve acquits herself with dignity, but she is constantly upstaged by perennial 'best friend' co-star Krysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic).
Although the film sells itself as a bawdy comedy, there are only two gross out moments; both were revealed in the trailer and seem out of place in the finished movie.
Despite its shortcomings, She’s Out Of My League remains amiable enough and Baruchel shows that he can carry a movie. It’s worthy of several chuckles and a snicker or two, but there are no guffaws to be found here.

I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I managed to get a free pass so I went and I liked it so much I went again! It's really funny and doesn't try too hard! I have been waiting for the DVD for ages!
OK It's not Knocked Up which really kicked these sorts of comedies off, or The Hangover which turned them on their head. It's good dirty(ish) fun, and the title is a lot better than the original/alternate "Hard 10" which would have been even worse than what they ended up with. Certainly worth a look in cinema, it won't be nearly as much fun at home with no crowd, or on a plane on a tiny screen. (I actually thought it was an Apatow film until I read the flicks review!)
Saw this by mistake, and it was actually very funny. Well worth it, good dialogue and banter amongst the group of friends carries this one along nicely.
I thought it was a really cool movie! their were heaps of laughs for me! go watch it you'll love it!!!
The movie is not a comedy classic. But in a genre where so many movies struggle to lift themselves from zero to one, it's about, oh, a six point five.
What he (Jay Baruchel) brings to She's Out of My League, in addition to the geek and the gawk, is a dash of the debonair, which might seem impossible and yet he does.
Scenes that should be grotesquely funny deliver only chuckles rather than a big payoff.
What threatened to be yet another routine exercise in raunchiness instead turns out to be a sweet, charming, hilariously funny love story that could emerge as a sleeper hit.
Not funny enough for me, in fact not really funny at all.
