Disney's 50th full length animated feature film is Tangled – a telling of fairy tale Rapunzel. From the makers of Bolt.
When the kingdom’s most wanted, and most charming, bandit Flynn Rider is taken hostage by Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) – a feisty teen with 20 metres of golden hair who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years – the unlikely duo sets off on an escapade filled with "adventure, heart, humor and hair, lots of hair".
Disney forge ahead with another quality solo effort after 2009's The Princess and the Frog, this time using 3D computer graphics to bring their signature animation style (big eyes, lustrous hair) to life.
With princesses and romance for the girls, sword-fighting and derring-do for the lads, Tangled ticks boxes for both genders. The main drawcard is the visual excellence: beautiful European forests and picturesque Bavarian-style towns (much like Disneyland’s own fantasyland region), combined with well-utilised 3D staging mean the film is a feast for the eyes.
The ‘90s golden age for the animation studio worked extra well because of the music and composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid) is back on scoring duties here. His songs this time don’t bear the longevity of those aforementioned works (there’s no Whole New World to be found here) but they’re arranged in a rich Broadway style.
It’s great to see the company revisit the fairytale world that served them so well back in the days of Snow White and Pinocchio and, while it doesn’t have the timeless quality of those classics, Tangled has plenty of charm to ensure a satisfied family.

i realy enjoyed this movie. its one for the whole family, and will leave everyone feeling happy at the end. i love all the songs and the caracters
This one is overall pretty good, however probably won't be to everybody's taste. I would compare it to "Beauty and the Beast". However the lady is the one with the problem in this film. This film does include spontaneous bursting into song scenes but no talking animals as sometimes appear in this sort of film. Watch out for a very determined to do his job horse. You can defeat his rider, but that horse has an attitude.
the best movie of the year
A wonderful story great characters and lovely to watch
Its not a classic but it is fun and well made. Entertaining - which is all I wanted
A passably entertaining hodgepodge of old and new animation techniques, mixed sensibilities and hedged commercial calculations.
It takes a bit of doing, but when Tangled's core sweetness asserts itself and the film dares to wear its heart on its sleeve in a climactic scene featuring 46,000 paper lanterns, it's been worth the wait.
Tangled is the 50th animated feature from Disney, and its look and spirit convey a modified, updated but nonetheless sincere and unmistakable quality of old-fashioned Disneyness.
Disney's spirited re-telling of Rapunzel in 3D animation turns out to be a dazzler.
It's no crime to say Tangled is nothing spectacularly new on the story front or when it comes to the songs- but thanks to a warmth and engaging charm as well as some good solid animation, it's a great family time out at the cinema.
