UK horror set in 1921 England, starring Rebecca Hall (The Town) as a debunker of paranormal claims whose sceptical beliefs are challenged during an inspection of an all-boy’s boarding school. Also stars Dominic West and Imelda Staunton.
In a country still in peril over the grief of World War I, Florence Cathcart (Hall) struggles to overcome her own personal tragedy: the death of her fiancé. In a self-fuelled attempt to disprove the idea that the dead can still haunt the living, she spends her time as a hoax exposer of supposed spectral sightings. However, upon her examination of Rookwood school, Florence experiences an ethereal encounter that defies rationality.
