I apologise, we feel bad, but there's no trailer available. ~Ed.
I guess you could say its done well but I hated it! It's too depressing.
Very well done, and i'm shocked to say that!....I've never been a fan of Jennifer Anniston as I think she, well, can't really act! So many of her movies rely on her 'Oh, wow , gee , possum in the headlights facials' sort of thing. Here she actually shows some emotional depth and range with the material (thanks Brad)...Vince Vaughn stretches himself too as he es beyond the wisecracking likeable oaf that we love so much. That side of him is still here mind you, to give some light relief in this drama/comedy.od supporting cast too - Jason Bateman , the mighty Vincent D'Onofrio and a portly Jon Favreau...With Vaughn as one of the producers, it's surprising how unindulgent this flick is - another surprise. The movie, as you might expect, has a rather melancholy tone, but you still come away more emotionally satisfied, than drained - if only life were like that!
Definately not what I expected - nor how it is marketed.
Funny, yes - quite in parts - but in the end quite dramatic. Perhaps too so. As some press reviews have pointed out - it is a very acurate portrayal of how guys and girls can't communicate. In fact, it's a good statement for how relationships are doomed to fail.
In this way, I can see why my lady friend didn't enjoy it, but I found the darkness somewhat amusing.
Yeah, not how it is marketed, but is it good?
Put it this way. Its not as dark as Bad Santa, and its not as funny as Wedding Crashers.
Its some where in between, dark in moments (the funniest moments) but then goes all soft and to use a parlance of our time "gay".
I did find it very funny in parts, but i think it kind of wimped out in others
Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn are great, no doubt about that, they pretty much always are. And for those of you who disagree about Aniston, must I refer you to od Girl - she is so much more than just a "friend". And Vaughn is just a lovable funny guy.
the most real depiction of a relationship I have ever seen on a screen, it is truly men from mars woman from Venus stuff - that is the best thing about it. E.G. I have some friends who didn't like it because it was "a little close to home".
After a promisingly quirky start, 'Break-Up' suffers a major breakdown from which it never recovers...
Has a sharp edge and a granite center. Often laugh-out-loud funny, but the hurt that comes with it feels very real, its emotional integrity is unusual in the genre...
For a film billed as a romantic comedy, The Break-Up has a surprising lack of either...
Gradually reveals itself to be a rather realistically dismal portrait of a man and woman's universal shortcomings in communication...
1/2 Vaughn and Favreau are so money, just like they were in 'Swingers'...
