American horror faux-documentary, set in Italy, following a woman that attends numerous underground exorcisms with documentarians.
20 years after Maria (Suzan Crowley) confessed to 911 respondents that she murdered three people, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in order to investigate the incident further. With the aid of two exorcists, she attempts to cure her mother using unconventional methods and confronting the demons that possess her.
The film stretches the obscure found-footage horror possession exorcism genre, alongside The Last Exocism and the popular [REC] series.
mean as movie
Hilariously convoluted.
This demon pic amps up the blurry shots and loud booming screams to signify well, not much.
Even with The Exorcist in the world, there is still scope for a contemporary, shocking and thrilling film to be made on the subject of possession. But this is not it: some found footage should really just stay lost.
This religio-horror effort does contain some nice scares.
Proves as scary and unsettling as a slab of devil's food cake - only considerably less satisfying.
