Transporter 3

The trilogy maker of Luc Besson's Transporter series, with Jason Statham returning as hero Frank Martin.

Frank is pressured into transporting Valentina (Natalya Rudakova), the kidnapped daughter of Leonid Vasilev, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency from Marseilles, through Stuttgart, Budapest, and through to Odessa, on the Black Sea.

Along the way, with the help of Inspector Tarconi (François Berléand), Frank has to contend with the people who forced him to take the job, agents sent by Vasilev to intercept him, and the general non cooperation of Valentina.

Rating: 3 Flicks Review:

Add Transporter 3's Frank Martin to the list that includes Batman, Indiana Jones and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sadly, that's not a roll call of cinema's greatest alpha-males; it's a list of tough characters that were ruined by annoying sidekicks. Frank's latest assignment is to stay in a car with a drunk Ukrainian girl whose English is as warped as Borat's. Her plea to "feel the sex again, before I die," will one day win an award for Worst Line Ever. Thankfully the rest of the film is distractingly noisy, violent and fun.

Early on, our duo has explosive devices attached to their arms that will detonate if they stray too far from their vehicle. In the modern-day action film, spatial awareness is a bit of a rarity, so most audiences will welcome the gimmick. The premise is assisted by outstanding stunt work and fight choreography. Cars smash through walls with gleeful abandon and things go 'boom' as often as possible. Unfortunately, this just highlights how poor the script is.

Plot-holes are rife, the ending's awful and the dialogue - mostly spoken via cellphone – has all been heard before. The inevitable Transporter 4 should just scrap conversation altogether, because it's purely the action sequences that are keeping this series alive.
