Thirty years after Flying High!, spoof movies have plummeted to an all-time low. Trans American Airlines Flight 209's captain Peter Graves will be spinning in his proverbial namesake after this laboured, criminally unfunny homage to the Twilight series so far.
Of course, directors Friedberg and Seltzer have form and they don't stray too far from their template of visual gags involving violence against kids, animals and the disabled, gross-out cutaways, virtual replays of entire scenes from the original movies and keeping the likes of Diedrich Bader off the streets (sorry boys, Carmen Electra has finally seen the light and jumped ship).
And if the quality of their film wasn't already hastening cinema's demise, then their insistence on referencing currently popular TV shows surely also doesn't help. That and the other pop culture references also means it lacks anything remotely resembling a timeless quality and, given that there are 80-odd years of vampire movie mythology to choose from, the end result is ridiculously narrowly focused.
Twi-Hards may love the gentle pastiche of their beloved franchise but for anyone else this makes Mel Brooks's anemic 1995 spoof, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, look like a masterpiece in comparison.

If you want to have a laugh at the stupidness of the Twilight series, this is your film. However, you might also find yourself not laughing at how stupid and boring this parody is. The film wasted lots of potential, as the source material really needs the parody treatment.
A few good laughs here and there but I found myself rather bored. Just another classic cheap stupid movie, which went over the top with unreal sceens.
By far the dumbest movie I have ever seen.
Hahaha very fuuny going to watch it with friends on Friday
I'm seeing it on Saturday watched the trailer a thousand times and cracked up every time!! Me and my frineds are going to love it!! I feel sorry for the chinese though. :( No rasisim though so, I think it the bomb!!
If ever there's a movie description to strike dread into the heart of a film reviewer's heart it's this phrase: ``From the guys who brought you Disaster Movie, Epic Movie and Date Movie.''
The main performers do a reasonably good job of parodying the "Twilight" leads, with Proske particularly effective in subtly lampooning Kristen Stewart's moody mannerisms.
"Vampires" doesn't suck, exactly, but the laziness and lack of imagination kinda bites.
This pointless parody dumps us in the fictional town of Sporks, Wash., a location lousy with vampires and werewolves.
The lame mediocrity of Vampires Suck undeniably reps an advance for writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. By just about any other standard, however, this instantly forgettable trifle is fairly close to worthless.
