In this comedy, successful PR pro Marni (Kristen Bell, When in Rome) heads home for her older brother’s wedding and discovers that he’s marrying her college bully and arch nemesis Joanna (Odette Yustman, Cloverfield).
Then the bride’s jet-setting aunt (Sigourney Weaver) blusters in and Marni’s mum (Jamie Lee Curtis) comes face to face with her own college rival. The claws are out as mum and daughter set out to expose their true colours. Also stars the great Betty White (TV's Golden Girls).
The movie's pleasures are scant, apart from its observance of Gene Siskel's Rule of Swimming Pool Adjacency, which states that when well-dressed people are near a swimming pool, they will - yeah, you got it.
Has no inherent laughs, so an extremely versatile and talented cast struggles mightily to make something funny that simply isn't.
A chatty little bore.
Cast tries hard, but lame script
Game but clueless, You Again shoots for a girl-powered bad-taste comedy but lands closer to daytime soap opera with added pratfalls. Fitfully amusing, appealingly cast, utterly inconsequential.
