Sex, clothes, popularity, whatever.

"As IF!" The film that introduced us to knee high socks, calling people 'Monets' and 'Bettys', and Paul Rudd. From the director of Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Clueless is the endlessly quotable high school satire beloved by a generation of '90s kids.

Based on Jane Austen's meddling heroine Emma, Alicia Silverstone stars as the spoilt but lovable Cher, with the late Brittany Murphy as her adoring protege Tai. Cher dispenses fashion and romance advice to all her friends - and even some of her teachers - but struggles to play it cool when it comes to her own love life. Eventually her best intentions end in disaster.

Chicago Sun-Times (Roger Ebert)

The movie is aimed at teenagers, but like all good comedies, it will appeal to anyone who has a sense of humor and an ear for the ironic.

Empire (UK)

Thoroughly entertaining as well as being delightfully clever.

Time Out London

Silverstone makes Cher's insularity appealingly innocent, and an attempted seduction scene is sweetly hopeless.

Variety (USA)

A fresh, disarmingly bright and at times explosively funny comedy.
