Edie

Coming Soon On-Demand 24 October 2018

It's never too late.

Cantankerous and bored octogenarian Edie (Sheila Hancock) ditches her life and family and decides to climb a mountain in Scotland in this feel-good UK drama.

Against her daughter’s wishes, she heads to Scotland and employs Jonny (Kevin Guthrie, Whisky Galore) to help her prepare for the gruelling climb. As the pair talk, bicker and have fun, they reveal more about their lives to each other, all set against the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.

Sheila Hancock shines at the centre of an inspiring, unashamedly feel-good story.

This well-meaning film basically retreads the old ideas about the old person who in death's encroaching shadow has one last glorious life-affirming adventure...

The Telegraph (UK)

The mere concept of Hancock, as the newly liberated widow of the title, clambering around Scottish mountainsides might be enough to sustain a trailer, but it doesn't go the distance here.

Little White Lies

An uplifting character study that's definitely worth a look.

The story may not linger, but the imagery will.

Treads a rather obvious, if diverting enough, path.
