Ghost Rider

Out Now On-Demand

Marvel comic book character, motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze (Cage), sells his soul to Mephistopheles (Fonda) but is cursed and becomes, by night, a flaming-skulled Spirit Of Vengeance!

Despite the release-date having been delayed by six months, the director having three names, and critics giving overwhelming bad reviews, fans propelled it to No 1 at the US box office upon release.

The Ghost Rider is one of the more aggressively Catholic superheros in the Marvel stable. Cut from the same vigilante cloth as The Punisher - leather, not spandex - he rides around on a flaming motorcycle dispensing rough justice to the scum of the streets. Though entertaining enough in comic form, he's basically silly on the big screen due to the unavoidable on-fire-ness of his head...

As a film on its own, Ghost Rider isn't amazing, but it is definitely a decent popcorn flick. As an entry into the superhero genre, Ghost Rider is only a couple notches above the "X-Men: The Last Stand"...

It's entertaining to watch ol' hothead do his thing with his fiery chain and his "penance stare," but for a comic book with a rebel spirit, the adaptation feels obediently conventional...

Placed alongside such primetime Sony/Marvel Comics movies as the "Spider-Man" franchise, "Ghost Rider" is strictly matinee material. Though the superhero's fans have long awaited his close-up, the Devil's bounty hunter -- complete with a burning skull for a head and a killer motorcycle in flames --materializes in a movie that never measures up to his infernal potential...

Nic Cage barfs... again!

Mark Steven Johnson directed 'Daredevil.' That should be enough to warn anyone just how awful this mess of a movie is. Cage proves yet again that for every great role he takes on - he'll take another nine that stink to high heaven. To say it's formulaic would be unfair on formulaic Hollywood popcorn movies. One for anyone who didn't get HELLBOY - and sure to appeal to anyone who loved DAREDEVIL or ELECTRA for that matter. That said - like THE WICKER MAN, this is a MUST see for anyone who loves to watch Cage embarass himself! Thank heaven Cage never got to play SUPERMAN - judging by this he'd have made an even worse fist of it than Bryan Singer :(

Nicolas Cage is actually really good in this

Didnt have to a high a hope for this movie as a lot of comic books turned into movies are well bluntly S***t but people say its not good or bad ect ect look these movies are not shakespeare plays or Laurence of arabia there popcorn movies a few hours of escapism . Nicolas cage does do some strange movies then he also does some call blockbusters like Con Air and Face off

What's wrong with Cheese?

What's wrong with Cheese?

I love cheese, especially on pizza.

And the cheese in Ghostrider is kinda tasty too.

I enjoyed it, but it's not one i would pay to see more than once.

Waste of celluloid

In general a total waste of celluloid, although we did get one or two laughs from Nicholas Cage's very stilted acting style! Strictly for the 8-13 year old age bracket!

Cheesey with heavy on the cheese

Oh dear what a travesty. I don't know what was worse, the bad cgi, where the "Ghost Rider" looked like a robot when it moved or Nick Cage, looking "windblown" and heavily airbrushed.

As for the movie, very predictable, no surprises, and full of cheese. The only cool part of the movie for me is Sam Elliott's voice over..dang that man has a great voice!
