The Guardian (UK)

Such excess could have proved deadening, but dynamic deployment of old-school star power keeps almost all its scenes alive with internal tensions.

The Hindustan Times

It has enough to bedazzle you, so go for the sheen and Ranveer Singh's lunacy. After all, Padmaavat has passed so many hurdles to reach you.

Times of India

Granted, it could do with a tauter screenplay and shorter run-time but Padmaavat is an entertaining, large canvas experience, brought to life with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's stroke of visual brilliance.

Khilji is depraved, crazed, perverted and violent, and yet he is the most interesting character in the film. Credit for that goes to Ranveer Singh, who gives in to Khilji's unhinged personality and makes it his own.

The National (UAE)

Ranveer Singh shines in his portrayal of Bhansali's Khilji as a heartless beast. He is menacing, brutal, passionate, unpredictable and exciting to watch.

Gulf News (UAE)

While all the actors were earnest in their roles, it's the reductive and predictable plot that lets them down.
