Slender Man

Out Now On-Demand

Horror adaptation of the viral Slender Man lore, a meme created by a user of the Something Awful forum. In a small town in Massachusetts, four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of Slender Man. When one of the girls goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she's his latest victim.

Hollywood Reporter

These competent actresses deserve actual characters to play, but Birke's screenplay is as devoid of personality as the faceless cipher stalking its heroes.

New York Times

The most perfunctory horror picture I've seen in some time.

TimeOut (New York)

The movie fails to understand that it's the characters' fixation on Slender Man - and not the phantom himself - that should be driving the terror.

Variety (USA)

Apart from its occasionally spooky images, "Slender Man" is a fundamentally derivative and empty-headed horror film.

Sydney Morning Herald

It's not necessary to swallow whole the idea that the internet is inherently dangerous to see the production of a movie, after that controversy, as a somewhat cynical gesture. Especially when it's a bad movie trying to look sincere.

NZ Herald (Dominic Corry)

The more we see him, the more he moves, the less scary he is. Go back to the internet, Slender Man, you're scarier there. (Graeme Tuckett)

Ring rip-off that's a waste of your time.

Empire (UK)

Promising source material and a talented cast are squandered in a stale, rigidly formulaic J-horror wannabe.
